I joined colleagues and stakeholders at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, for a conference marking the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Local Government Reforms. I used the platform to make a pledge I believe in deeply: full financial and administrative autonomy for all Local Government Councils in Oyo State, to be implemented if I am elected Governor in 2027.
Grassroots governance is the foundation of sustainable development. I have seen firsthand how political interference, weak finances, and poor institutional struct.ures have held our councils back from delivering the basics primary healthcare, basic education, and rural infrastructure the things that truly touch people's lives.

My administration will pursue policies that empower our councils to function independently and respond directly to the needs of their communities. I also renew my call on the National Assembly to abolish the State-Local Government Joint Account and strengthen accountability at every level of governance.
I am grateful for the five awards presented to me at the conference in recognition of my work in governance and grassroots development.
